Scrap Gold and Silver
Real Value in Gold-Even When It's Been Set Aside
Gold pieces are often more valuable than they appear, even when they're worn, broken, or no longer wearable. Our specialists understand how to identify underlying precious metal value and carefully evaluate each item based on its composition and market demand.
We regularly purchase:
- Gold jewelry of any karat and condition, including estate and inherited pieces
- Class rings, fraternal and commemorative pins, and dental gold
- Scrap gold, sterling silver and platinum
Even items that haven't been worn in years may contain significant intrinsic value, often resulting in a stronger return than expected.
Understanding Gold Karat & Purity
Most gold jewelry is marked with a small stamp, known as a hallmark, indicating its purity. These marks are commonly found inside ring bands, on clasps, or on the reverse of pendants.
Gold purity is measured on a 24-karat scale, with 24k representing .999 fine gold. Jewelry is typically crafted in lower karats for durability, with the most common being:
- 10k gold - 41.7% pure
- 14k gold - 58.5% pure
- 18k gold - 75% pure
Even lower-karat pieces can hold meaningful precious-metal value, especially when evaluated by experienced buyers.
Scrap Gold Still Holds Lasting Value
Gold does not need to be intact or wearable to be valuable. We routinely buy:
- Broken or tangled chains
- Single earrings or unmatched pieces
- Damaged rings or bracelets
- Dental gold and older gold components
What may look like "scrap" often contains real gold content that adds up quickly when properly assessed. Our goal is to ensure every piece, no matter its condition, is evaluated with care, transparency, and respect.
